Overview

I was born in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, and continue to live in the south west.

My work reflects my love of colour and texture and a degree of abandonment to the nature of the materials worked with. I am drawn to the space and wildness of the landscape, the structure and shapes of internal landscapes in plant forms and the architecture and street patterns in towns and villages.

I also love the ancient, the deteriorated and the weathered and worn by time. Mainly because this is where I find fascinating, intricate and complex patterns and textures, and rich and faded layers of colour.  There seems to be something magical to unlock in old or worn things and in the wild call of nature and our landscape.

My work tends to be a combination of shapes, texture and colour with a certain experimental quality that can be attributed to the nature of some of the materials used.  My paintings carry strong feelings that I have whilst working with my subject.  I experience a kind of dialogue with my subject which I interpret and express visually.
